In the previous post we where discussing about how Conversion Architecture, that when used properly,it will help you generate more sales or clicks. In convenversion architecture part one I blogged about message clarity, how visitors view your site and  what where you offering.

Todays post will be about the visitors, our potential customers.

If you have someone visiting your site to buy or check out products, is because someone refered that person to your site, or he found it on the results on a Search Engine. The odds are that the potential customer found you on the search engine. If it comes to blogs, the mayority of the times we dont sell anything. Some people only use their blogs to share information, say thier opinions about a specific topic, write a poem etc. But sometimes some of us use thier blogs as a knowleadge base. and that is our product the knowleadge we provide. Once you identify your nitch you need to know what kind of people are going to read your information.Why? well to know what layout to use, (You are not going to use a pale layout if you blog is about parties or fun things.) what kind of language to use, (slang, profesional etc), what types of add to put in. Basically you need to put in there exaclty what they would like to see!

On the online business you will find a variety of customer just like in offline life, if you can call it that way. There are people who are just looking arround for products, maybe to know more about it as general information or for future purchase(when they get more money, someones birthday, etc ). The other type has a need as he is surfing the web, but since there are a variety of online products and services, they have a lot  of choices in which they can choose from. And the last time. And the last comun type; The ones who know exaclty what they want, most likely this customer knows direclty what he is getting into.

Let lets get a little bit deeper into this
I would like to call the first type of customer “Mary Justlooking

Looking arround for the features and benefits of a product or service she saw at the store, magazine, television, on the web istself etc. We need to keep in mind that if Mary is looking for it is becaase it catches her attention somehow. There is a very slight posibility that she would not purchase it. But here we have a great oportunity from us to gather information from her. Catching her email address and some other information will be extreemly helpfull in the future. Also if she is surfing into your new site, make a good impresion (follow the tips on of the first part of Conversion Architecture . Having clear, specific information regarding the product she is looking for is the key to keep Mary arround your site.

” this guy, has a problem, a need and the best part is that if we are able to fullfil that need we have the oportunity of making a sale. Let take a look. John Quoteman is looking for a new Television. There are tons of sites that sell televisions (including your site), and, of cuorse, a Cazillion TVs on the web. He has a lot to choose from. If by any chance we have gathered his information somehow, we can use it to make our first pitch. The first pitch is actually made before we know he needs something. We can send out weekly newsletters promoting products or services that we sell, or send out the diferent promotions we have at the moment.  If he already knows about the existance of our site, or has been reeding the name of the site  out his e mail inbox we have a chance right there. If he is surfing arround, we want to him to stay on the site and look arround. On the page that dispays that product have detailed product deatails that are easy read for John. Make sure your website has a secure looking page so it will grow confince on him. Always have promotions going on, that will catch they  his eye (Just like a Sale on a Brand New store near your town.)
The Last guy on our list is called Jim Prospect

. Jim knows whats the Deal. He knows that he wants a Plasma, 58 Inch Television. He would go to his favorite site and purchase the product. This is the kind of customer that will Google what he needs and will have his credit card on his. We all want this type of customers, and to get them we need to be ahead of everybody.
